Objectives
Through our initiatives, forums and meetings we want to:
• Bring together people from academia, business, culture, media, and politics including immigrants and locals
• Show the cultural diversity of Bremen and its international orientations
• Integrate people with different cultural backgrounds and professional fields into our project work
• Grasp ideas from different cultures and broadcast them to the general public
• Support companies and institutions on how to productively use and appreciate the diversified characteristics of their employees.
• Communicate the openness and internationalism of Bremen and in particular make the Hochschule Bremen known worldwide.
Through our research projects we want to:
• Connect and reinforce practical experience with theory of cultural merging, foreign aspects, intercultural communication and intercultural competence.
• Give a critical glance guide to dealing with internationalism, migration, acculturation and integration
• Examine the possible differences of academic collaborations of different cultures
• Compare traditions of academia, academic methods, education and learning in different cultures and from this, develop strategies for achieving a balanced international harmony
• Offer suggestions for a future multicultural campus
Through our concept development and our seminars we want to:
• Support people who work in an international environment to manage complex and difficult situations
• Teach them strategies on how to avoid intercultural misunderstandings and manage them in a correct manner
• Train in communication skills which make it possible in providing a productive use of foreign cultural encounters in the professional world
• Give tips and insights to familiarise on different cultures and there ways of thinking rather than a general do’s and don’ts recipe.
• Raise intercultural sensitivity in students, professors and administrative staff of universities
• Actively participate in the internationalisation process of the HS- Bremen
