Projects
Bremen OpenCity

Under the motto “Bremen Open City” ZIM has organised and designed events in cooperation with GIZ since 2008, bringing into light the intercultural competence and practice of the Hanseatic city.
We support projects and initiatives that demonstrate a successful integration. We collect ideas and encourage cultural diversity in science, economics, politics, art and culture. We create synergies between individuals, groups and projects and follow through with all initiated processes.
By inviting experts who come from abroad to discuss their points of view we grant a look outside the box.
DiversityForum Bremen
Diversity is ubiquitous in urban society, in business, in scientific institutions and in the arts. Its presence still has more to come. The cooperation project between the Paritaetischen Bildungswerk (PBW), ZIM and the Bremen Institute for Cultural Research (BIK) of the University of Bremen intends to encourage the sensitive, constructive handling of cultural, gender, generational, and last but not least individual diversity. Diversity and uniformity, variety and alikeness, generosity and greed we see as two sides of the same coin.
Effective strategies are those that bundle and take advantage of the special skills of each individual. We support companies and institutions in productively dealing with the diversity of their employees. For example those with different backgrounds, languages, experiences, ages, etc.
“The Colourful Key: Create Diversity!” “Der bunte Schlüssel: Vielfalt gestalten!”
The first Bremen Diversity Award: “Vielfalt gestalten!” The Hochschule Bremen together with a consortium gives the award to exemplary projects which deal creatively and promote the difference, diversity and talents of their employees. Under the patronage of Mayor Jens Böhrnsen this year’s award ceremony will be held on the 2nd of December 2010. Beginning now, business, institutions, and projects in Bremen can take the challenge to become part of this competition.
